Who are the real “celebrities” in your life?
Name a celebrity. Go ahead. Do it. Write their name down or write it in your phone. Blurt their name out to a friend as you read this on your phone. The first one that comes to mind. (Your friend will think you are weird but it won’t last long and they probably already do anyways. It’ll be fun.)
Now whomever you named, ask yourself for real. “Do I really celebrate this person?” Think about that. Would you throw a celebration of this person you named? Have you even met this person?
Today, we misuse this word “celebrity” using it just to mean famous people or actors or models. It no longer has anything to do with the actual of celebration. Celebration is that unique experience of being so excited about a person, so grateful that a person or event is real and a part of your life.
So now that we’ve taken this thing apart until we can’t even remember what we are talking about, let me ask. Who do you celebrate?
We at the Hissah Enrichment Center celebrate mothers. Especially this month. It is Women’s month. It was international women’s day not too long ago. It was just Mother’s Day here in the Arab world and is coming up in the Commonwealth. What better time to think about mothers, celebrate them truly, and … pamper them a little bit.
What don’t mothers do? (Besides everything, of course.) They put up with us when we are in bad moods. They love us unconditionally even when we find it hard to do that ourselves. They want the best for us even though it sometimes doesn’t look that way at first glance. They work, (even if they don’t work, it is truly work, and hard work) day in and day out to make sure that our lives are good and only get better. How great is that and how great are they?
You know? They are so great we should celebrate them. It seems clear that it is they that are the true celebrities!
Come join us at the Hissah Enrichment Center for Mother’s Day celebrations this coming Saturday and Sunday. Check out our [website](hissahec.com) for more information.
